Wellbeing at Queen Ethelburga's
We believe that wellbeing is a priority within education, as such it is one of the focus areas of our ethos.
By offering our students comprehensive education and state-of-the-art facilities focused on mental health and wellbeing, we aim to enhance their overall health, creativity, future prospects, happiness, and their relationships with others.

How do we cultivate respect, equity and collective responsibility within our school community?Wellbeing at Queen Ethelburga’s is deeply rooted in these values, which we consider essential for the success of our students. Our goal is to nurture a community culture where every member feels valued, heard, and comfortable being their authentic selves. |
Our Approach to Wellbeing
We believe that a strong sense of wellbeing begins with our Pastoral Team and teachers, who emphasise the "Five Ways to Wellbeing" in all that we do. We offer a student-driven programme of sessions that promote positive mental health, tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. Every staff member is trained to recognise when a student may need additional support. Whether through a staff referral or a student's own initiative, our Pastoral Centre is always open to those seeking help.
A Flexible, Evolving Support System
Our wellbeing programme is regularly reviewed and updated to meet the changing needs of our students. Key initiatives include:
-
Peer Mentor Support: Empowering students to support each other.
-
Woodland and Wildlife: Connecting with nature for mental health.
-
Stress Management Workshops: Teaching techniques to handle stress effectively.
-
Emotion Management Sessions: Helping students understand and manage their emotions.
-
Tea and Talk: Creating a safe space for open conversations.
These initiatives are designed to build trust, foster collaboration, and create a positive learning environment where every QE student can thrive.
